About me / Impressum

I’m a multimedia software engineer specializing in Apple platforms—and, in parallel, a medical doctor working in intensive care and emergency medicine. “Working on VLC since before you were born,” my manager once said. It’s true: VLC has been part of my life for over 20 years. My main focus has been macOS, including major interface rewrites for the 2.0 and 4.0 releases. In 2013, I rebuilt the iOS port from scratch, later helped launch the tvOS version, and initiated the visionOS and watchOS ports in 2024. Over the years, I worked on VLC for macOS, iOS, watchOS, visionOS and tvOS as well as custom multimedia applications for a broad set of customers. Over the years, further contributions to the macOS port and its designated UI followed, culminating in a re-write of the user interface in 2011 for version 2.0 and another from 2018 to 2026 for version 4.0.
