About me / Impressum
I’m a multimedia software engineer specializing in Apple platforms—and, in parallel, a medical doctor working in intensive care and emergency medicine. “Working on VLC since before you were born,” my manager once said. It’s true: VLC has been part of my life for over 20 years. My main focus has been macOS, including major interface rewrites for the 2.0 and 4.0 releases. In 2013, I rebuilt the iOS port from scratch, later helped launch the tvOS version, and initiated the visionOS and watchOS ports in 2024. Over the years, further contributions to the macOS port and its designated UI followed, culminating in a re-write of the user interface in 2011 for version 2.0 and another from 2018 to 2026 for version 4.0.
